Quote of the Day: James Carville’s Message to the Republican Establishment

Longtime legendary (in)famous Democratic strategist James Carville has a must-read-in-full post on CNN which is in the form of a letter to the Republican establishment. The letter, headlined “Carville to GOP: You have a disaster on your hands” must be read in full. Here is the final part of it which makes up our political Quote of the Day:

At any rate, let’s talk a minute about Mitt. He was your guy — he was methodical, meticulous, married once. He has completely blown himself up over an issue that everyone knew was coming. Have you had a chance to look at John McCain’s research operation on Mitt? Wow. And let me assure you, that thing has been supplemented, expanded, and annotated. God only knows about the Obama people — they’ve got a billion dollars! And how about my friends over at American Bridge (the Democrat-leaning political action committee)? Clearly Mitt is merely in the beginning of this tax-return, financial-disclosure, Cayman Island (and God only knows what else) fiasco.

Your new front-runner is one of your old front runners, Newt Gingrich. I would like to take a moment to revel: I cannot personally tell you how pleased I am to see old Newt rise to the top after listening to all of your nauseating, sickening lectures on the evils of government and the importance of family values.

Now, you guys have to deal with a $1.6 million Freddie Mac consultant (who says he wasn’t a lobbyist) who has been married three times. Hope you, at least, enjoy the Super Bowl. It could be your last hurrah for a while.

PS — As my former boss once said, I feel your pain. That’s why I didn’t mention Rick Perry.

If you hear a pop tonight, it could be Carville’s champagne bottles…

  1. There is no message/information here. This is a moderate site and James is telling us the obvious but he is lying. There is no way that Newt is going to get the nomination. He is blowing a lot of hot air. So what if Mitt has baggage, Barack has a lot of baggage also. As a citizen, I want some solutions and not a bunch of stupid comments that James is saying.

I have five children and I want them to have the same opportunities I had if they work hard. James is making a lot of money stating the obvious and not improving anything for the young (oh yea, give them a bunch of FREE stuff and that will make them work hard in the future). Carville is no better than Rove and I don’t like either one.

One last thing is the poster of this article should have rights to post restricted since this article didn’t enlighten anyone. He is only re quoting the MSM!

Cute, I just wish the race were closer ($1billion, that would buy a lot Hillary stickers), because I love to watch Carville when he gets frustrated, reminds me of Elmer Fudd on Meth.

  3. slamfu says:

Lol, Joe should totally have his posting rights restricted, great idea.

  4. Yes I love it. Someone telling me I should be censored from running a quote by Carville on my own site. I suggest you start your own site and you can censor yourself whenever you want. If we let every person who writes or reads TMV remove posts they felt that from their political viewpoint did not enlighten them we would not have any posts. And, yes, I’m sure some would consider that an improvement:)

Good to see you tell that Iron-something that freedom of speech, freedom of the press also applies to the blogosphere.

Reminds me of a couple of commenters in the past trying to tell me what I could and could not write about. Didn’t work!

  6. Jim Satterfield says:

How is pointing out that the guy who just won the first Republican primary in a good sized state something objectionable? Maybe he won’t win the nomination but for today Gingrich is the “frontrunner”.

  7. roro80 says:

IronMike is indeed a character. I mean, wow.

In any case, Carville is pretty hilarious, and quite correct. The GOP is a disaster. I bet Obama is also popping some bubbly tonight.

  8. Allen says:

    Letter to James Carville…..

NO TRUER WORDS WERE EVER SPOKEN!

Mr. Carville, you are right on the money as always. BTW, I enjoyed your visit here with your wife. The both of you are an odd couple but charming nonetheless. Soon as you come back I’ll be picking up my tickets and bring a Repub date, if I can find a female Repub, they’re pretty rare you know. So thanks again for dropping by the home front and take it easy on the Repubs. They are soft in the head, can’t take much pressure without exploding. Going to hear a lot of heads pop before November I’m sure.

Yes, how DOES that marriage work? Can’t imagine their pillow talk!

Always liked James Carville – he’s a scrappy little Cajun, and usually has a pretty good political barometer. In this case he is right on the money as this is a very sorry season for Republicans!

  10. dduck says:

Elmer Fudd meets a whole passel of wascilly wabbits.

  11. Allen says:

Iron Mikey says:”Barack Obama has baggage”.

What baggage? Never a cleaner President has ever existed!

Free stuff??? What on earth is he talking about? I’d suspect that those people down in Huston are a little loopy, IMO.
