The tragic result is that the US will remain suspect long after the immoral practices have been stopped.  &#039;Waterboarding&#039; will remain part of US identity long past the last application of the technique.  The ghost of secret detention centers will linger long after they have been closed.  It will 
be a long time before anyone believes a US president when he says &quot;we do not torture&quot;,   

Just like the decision to invade Iraq cannot be undone, these early moral failures can not be undone.  Our future is dealing with the consequences.</description>
