All of this about the Republicans and Gonzales is true, but if Democrats are wondering why the polls show voters are losing confidence in them, they may want to reconsider such sideshows as no-confidence votes and get to the real business–subpoenaing Rove, rescinding the 2002 resolution authorizing the war in Iraq and much more:

No confidence votes in the US Congress can only be one of two things (a) a waste of legislative time or (b) a political manuever

CO- None of which changes the facts that Gonzales is a dishonest, incompetent toady- whose loyalty lies only with Bush. That is what the issue was yesterday, and whether or not Schumer is head of the SDCC doesn’t change that one bit.

The Senate Republicans, by this obstruction, chose to support an incompetent corrupt AG, who has turned DOJ into a dysfunctional agency controlled by the WH and the RNC.

I must say that moderate Republicans are not doing their best to win me over. They keep saying things I want to hear. I agree with what they say as much as I agree with the left Democrats (and I’m registered Dem), but whenever it comes down to the vote, they always seem to fall in line with party solidarity and disregard their supposed beliefs. Until I see them trying to sieze back their party by disciplining its own mistakes, I can’t imagine moving in their direction.

It really is a terrible time when we can not even push through a no-confidence vote on a serially incompetant, lying political lackey serving as the head of the Justice Dept.

And that a President’s sheer pigheadedness would force the need for such a vote.

I’m certainly not saying Gonzalez is the first such lackey to be appointed, but he’s breathtakingly the worst in my political lifetime. And that’s saying something.

Here’s something I never hear much about – How is Lieberman polling with his constituency? ‘Cause if anyone is as hated by Dems as much Bush/Cheney, it’s Joe. I sympathize. But it ain’t just Democrats anymore that think everything he stands up for these days represents the worst of miserably failed Bush-era policy.
