Is the excessive coverage just to satisfy the masses who have no hope of ever living a life like Paris gets to live? I think people enjoy seeing the rich and beautiful (and yes vapid and useless) cut down to size. Now Paris gets to experience what would happen to the rest of us if we drove drunk, and broke probation.

What’s really sad about all this, is that everyone is stirred up about this ONE act of repeat violations and light sentencing. I’ve never see this much concern and debate of fairness over the SHORT & PATHETIC sentencing of the everyday murders, rapists, molesters, burglars, abusers, drug dealers/users, etc that go through the system everyday. These are the lowlifes and scum that actually have a possible affect on our lives as to when they will/can become a repeat offender from such light sentences & punishments set by the ‘Court of Law’! If everyone showed this much personnel & media attention to the real criminals of our society, I’m sure the ‘Courts of Law’ & ‘Justice System’ would change their ways of thinking. Laws, rulings, sentences and punishments would change to the pressure of society saying that they have had enough of being victimized by the true criminals we see everyday today! Unfortunately, until society wakes up, this will never happen as we (in general) are so blinded to what the big picture is and so concerned about ONE little rich girl that will bend and twist the laws and justice system with money until she gets her way! It’s SAD…. VERY SAD!

Itâ€™s an obscene spectacle, but it is irresponsible to pretend that it isnâ€™t happening, bury our heads in the sand, or just let it go.

Like Right Wing Radio: ignoring it wonâ€™t make it go away; itâ€™s actively a corrosive agent on the body politic.

If Paris Hilton didnâ€™t serve their purposes, the MSM would not be in such a feeding frenzy.

(They actually had news helicopters FOLLOWING the Sheriffâ€™s Department black & white from jail to courthouse).

Itâ€™s the perfect one-night-stand: Those media C-list celebrities who make their living drinking the blood of the Paris Hiltons have their celebrity predicated on Parisâ€™ â€œnaughtyâ€ stunts. I watched the Lary King panel last night, astonished that so many grasping non-entitities would subject themselves to such an orgy of cheap â€œmoralismâ€ just so they could be on TeeVee.

This morass deserves every bit of scorn that the blogosphere can muster. Because in a real sense, every minute devoted to this trashy fluff (the coverage, no judgment on the covered), is a theft of the time required to deal with our national crises — which are legion.
