I’m split on this. I’d rather see them use someone young and energetic like Harold Ford, but Hastings offense was over 20 years ago, and he was acquitted for the bribery part, and paid his dues for the perjury part.
This guy is never going to be appropriate for any position of trust in government. But, at least it shows what we’ve known all along. The Republicans don’t have a lock on corrupt political appointments. Cheer up David, perhaps Libby isn’t emblematic of Republican corruption as much as political corruption in general. Seems as if all parties are prone to this sort of bad judgment.
