Gates seems to pull no punches and doesn't mind getting rid of people at the top, which I admire. Maybe if he'd been Sec Def all along we wouldn't be in such a mess. But for anything to really change, you'd have to get rid of the people who are really responsible for all of the bad decision-making- Bush and Cheney.
