The Rich Have Suffered Long Enough (A Poem)

In other western countries, austerity measures include taxing the rich along with taking benefits for others. In this country, the ruling powers have decided that…

The Rich Have Suffered Long Enough

The rich have suffered long enough,
They’ve known great taxing sorrows;
It’s time class warfare laws to doff,
They’ve earned their bright tomorrows.

Unlike the poor or middle class,
Top earners’ rates are highest;
The fairer way is make rates flat,
‘Cause now they’re clearly biased.

While others in a family nest
Find peace behind the curtains,
The tax bite on choice real estate
Makes home and hearth harsh burdens.

And even death don’t free the rich
From greedy revenuers;
The heirs of multiple mill estates
Oft’ end up food bank queuers.

Yes congress with its surtax plan
Backed off, thus made amends;
It was a scary close call, though,
Dear God, it never ends!

So trim those costly welfare rolls
Those elder escalators;
But have compassion for the rich,
Our precious job creators.

    They don’t create jobs an such.

    laughing at the rest of us.
