DLS, you saw that right. The memories dont fade; usually you have to put many locks on them so if you want to open them you can, but not have the doors swing open just cause someone intrudes. Time. It takes...

I'll elaborate on that episode I overheard in St. Louis, something I predicted would happen (just because it's so obvious and powerful a thing):

Reporter: What is it that you're reluctant to talk about so much now that you're home. Is it the killing, is that it?

Soldier: Yes, and I really wish you hadn't asked me about that.

It was asked:

> is the book you have
> the one that was nom’d
> for the Pulitzer or the
> other one on ‘combat?’

It is the first, "On Killing."

DLS, you are ace-accurate on one of the underlying hauntings. yes. And, is the book you have the one that was nom'd for the Pulitzer or the other one on 'combat?'

Domajot yes, Lt. Cmdr Harrison, some would say, broke rank by saying thus publicly. However, it is a new generation. I think Domajot, we will hear much and more truth from this 'connected' generation than we have from previous. For many reasons.

She's probably not revealing everything, yet, Dr. E.

It has happened before, and will happen again. While I was still in St. Louis, I predicted something to the very word that I would hear on the radio, and I was proven correct, and the veteran asked about the subject told the media interviewer he wished he hadn't been asked about it.

The big issue is killing. Not as much the stress of combat or the loss of their friends from time to time, but the killing and violent deaths themselves.

You can even find a Web site on-line by someone who has written a book (I have owned a copy for several years) about the subject. (Other literature, on combat, is also now available there.)

Killing is unnatural to people and harms them when they experience it. They typically do NOT want to talk about it.

I believe if you asked that veteran, Dr. E., and she was willing to talk about it, you'd be told something similar.

By the way, Dr. E (open reply on behalf of all readers), as you might predict, Grossman has little value for air strikes. I believe these are good as tactical means, but here he is also discussing the nature of "strategic bombing," and if you know your history, the conceit of "strategic bombing" by air power enthusiasts is quite similar to the earlier conceit of admirals and naval power enthusiasts, and their big guns posted next to an enemy nation's shores.
