Maybe in addition to high fuel taxes for all those real and not-so-real things that are claimed are costs for our oil security, there might be auto “safety” sumptuary or “sin” taxes on fuels. Why, that could force people to use electric lawn mowers rather than those with gasoline power — add an “air quality” tax…

They’ve been strident about a number of issues as part of their PR campaigns (appealing to emotion, the basis for “reasoning” with their base).

Believe it or not, there are people who smoke while handling gasoline (they also use cell phones, i.e., electrical devices, and get in and back out of their car building up static charges on themselves), just as in the Good Old Days you might see a photo of someone handloading (making his own ammunition) in his home workshop, puffing contentedly on his pipe. This is what is known as Asking For Trouble. Same for putting gasoline into unsafe containers.

But are the laws on gasoline dispensing really for molotov cocktails? seems like you can poor it from there into anything you want if you have the inclination. I figured it was more of the ‘government trying to protect you from yourself’ movement.

Now, given the possible target(s) of this bombing, it may not be a surprise if you don’t hear predictable barking this time by Lautenberg Malkin and Schumer Hewitt proclaiming this was a terrorist attack.

I don’t believe they’re minimizing the story. If anything, they’re adding an additional element to it by making the reader aware that there are people in this world who make bombs at home.

Now, given the possible target(s) of this bombing, it may not be a surprise if you don’t hear predictable barking this time by Lautenberg and Schumer, attempting to ban the sale of black and smokeless powder (more anti-gun lunacy advertised as an anti-terrorism measure).

It’s already illegal to dispense gasoline into unapproved containers, so as to “prevent” (???) Molotov cocktails from being made.

Student Arrested With Homemade Bombs

..is that an attempt to minimize the infraction involved? After all, nearly all bombs that go off in the United States are not bought at Armaments R Us. The Atlanta Olympic bomb was “homemade”, as was the Oklahoma City bomb, as were the Unibombers.

Just wondering how other people read things like this.
