Not Good
I’m not sure of the intended target (Fred Phelps? Soulforce?) but this report from ABC News is NOT a good sign:
ABCNews: Bomb Plot Thwarted at Falwell’s Funeral
Student Arrested With Homemade Bombs, Three Other Suspects Sought
Captain Ed comments: “Stupidity knows no bounds. People who want to use violence for political purposes are terrorists.”

I’ve always wondered about this, when media sources say something like,
..is that an attempt to minimize the infraction involved? After all, nearly all bombs that go off in the United States are not bought at Armaments R Us. The Atlanta Olympic bomb was “homemade”, as was the Oklahoma City bomb, as were the Unibombers.
Just wondering how other people read things like this.
Supposedly these were made with gasoline and were something like napalm.
> Just wondering how
> other people read
> things like this.
I don’t believe they’re minimizing the story. If anything, they’re adding an additional element to it by making the reader aware that there are people in this world who make bombs at home.
Now, given the possible target(s) of this bombing, it may not be a surprise if you don’t hear predictable barking this time by Lautenberg and Schumer, attempting to ban the sale of black and smokeless powder (more anti-gun lunacy advertised as an anti-terrorism measure).
It’s already illegal to dispense gasoline into unapproved containers, so as to “prevent” (???) Molotov cocktails from being made.
“And Campbell County authorities arrested a Liberty University student for having several homemade bombs in his car.
The student, 19-year-old Mark D. Uhl of Amissville, Va., reportedly told authorities that he was making the bombs to stop protesters from disrupting the funeral service.”
Now there’s some of that sweet Christian love….
Note to real Christians: I in no way think this is representative of Christians in general.
Note to everyone: If instead of a Liberty U student it had been a Gay rights militant…anyone want to take my bet that the cable news, right-wing talking heads would be going ballistic about the “hateful left”?
I think I’m with DLS on this, making it a rouge crazy guy that comes out of nowhere is kind of like saying “this could be your neighbor, you just don’t know! be afraid and listen to us for more information!”
But are the laws on gasoline dispensing really for molotov cocktails? seems like you can poor it from there into anything you want if you have the inclination. I figured it was more of the ‘government trying to protect you from yourself’ movement.
DLS, are you under the impression that we Jews bark?
> DLS, are you under the

No.
Apparently you never realized that Lautenberg and Schumer take up one liberal Democratic cause after another in the past, and have included something similar to this before:

And no women jokes here, either.

Not only — it’s also for fire safety.
Believe it or not, there are people who smoke while handling gasoline (they also use cell phones, i.e., electrical devices, and get in and back out of their car building up static charges on themselves), just as in the Good Old Days you might see a photo of someone handloading (making his own ammunition) in his home workshop, puffing contentedly on his pipe. This is what is known as Asking For Trouble. Same for putting gasoline into unsafe containers.
Well I for one find that these terrorists using gasoline should force the left to demand that we stop selling gasoline in the united states in order to prevent needless bomb making material to the terrorist.
That would show them a thing or two.
Democratic Senators Lautenberg and Schumer are Jewish liberals (like me) but I’ve never noticed them barking.

Holly: They are emotive, grand-standing liberal Democratic politicians. Please read the link I provided. Here it is again:
http://www.space-rockets.com/presscon.html
They’ve been strident about a number of issues as part of their PR campaigns (appealing to emotion, the basis for “reasoning” with their base).
> stop selling gasoline
Gun control — a “health” [sic] as well as “security” issue…
Don’t forget the weasel approach, that good old-fashioned 10,000% Democratic tax on ammunition. (Surprisingly, I’ve heard next to nothing about levying taxes on guns.)
Maybe in addition to high fuel taxes for all those real and not-so-real things that are claimed are costs for our oil security, there might be auto “safety” sumptuary or “sin” taxes on fuels. Why, that could force people to use electric lawn mowers rather than those with gasoline power — add an “air quality” tax…
(Yes, such a 10,000% tax on ammo has been sought. Note the fraudulent titles!)

Sorry, we don’t reason by emotion.
Do you think we need guns for some reason? I don’t think anyone I knew growing up ever had them aside from grandpa’s WW1 rifle hung over the mantel.
I know how to use a gun safely but choose not to have one. I had an ex who insisted on buying a gun after a burglary.
