The “Birthers” Are Still at it in New Hampshire.

Yesterday, four Republicans in the New Hampshire State House supported a hearing requested by a group of birthers who want President Obama officially removed from the state’s primary ballot.

Of course, Birther attorney Orly Taitz is in the midst of it and had filed a complaint about Obama’s candidacy that, according to WND, was joined by several state lawmakers. Ortiz had submitted “evidence” of alleged fraud regarding his birth certificate. The evidence, she charged, “indicates he does not meet the Constitution’s requirement that the president be a ‘natural born citizen.’”

It’s not clear whether all this is a smokescreen or whether these dead-enders actually believe this stuff. But they aren’t letting the facts get in their way — one group in Arizona has even demanded that the President “release the microfiche” of his birth certificate.

Sadly, Obama doesn’t have any microfiches on hand, but his Campaign has the next best thing: In honor of birthers everywhere, they’re re-releasing the campaign’s limited-edition “Made in the USA” mugs.

Here’s what one of the state representatives backing the effort had to say about yesterday’s hearing: “I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but even I could take [the long-form birth certificate] apart and see that it was fraudulent.”

Well, the Campaign won’t argue with one part of that statement.

There’s clearly nothing that can be done to satisfy this crowd — or anyone else who insists on wasting time and energy on nonsense like this.

But when it starts to make your head hurt, the best remedy is to have some tea (or coffee) in a “Made in the USA” mug.

Works like a charm. The Campaign recommends Earl Grey.

Adapted and expanded from an “Obama for America” message

CODA (From WND):

A state board in New Hampshire has decided that Barack Obama’s name is good to go on the state’s 2012 presidential ballot because the application was filled out properly and the $1,000 fee was paid, according to an attorney who challenged his candidacy because of suspicions of fraud.

Would someone put us out of our misery and deport her someplace far, far away? (I’d get in trouble for my first thought…)

Would not be surprised to learn that mental health professionals decide to categorize birtherism as yet another form of OCD.

    1. I would love to know which GOP candidates (if any) still support this movement.
    2. Is this just a distraction to disguise the fact that some of the opposition to Obama have no solutions for anything else that ails us??

This is how these people (the Republican Party in general… The Orly Taitz’s of the world in specific) and pick-pockets work… They say “Hey, look over there” and then they do things you don’t want them to do.

I don’t know if that’s really necessary, DMS IV still acknowledges the existence “idiots” and “morons”. :)

Why don’t the birthers try to challenge Obama’s birth announcement in the Honolulu newspapers? For details, see:

Racial bigotry apparently knows no limits, and this brouhaha is clearly about race, not birth.

    Thanks for the link, cawalker.

Although somewhat dated, the article totally destroys the argument by those birthers who make so much of the “natural born” issue/requirement:

“Now, McCain’s (Rove’s) useful idiots will scream that these are fakes, that they are part of this grand conspiracy by Obama’s parents to smuggle a newborn baby from Kenya into Honolulu to obtain a birth certificate and birth announcements. But what is lacking in their story is MOTIVE. It’s not like Obama’s parents knew back then that Barack would go into politics, and need to be “Natural Born.” Why bother with such a deception, which includes a very risky flight half way around the world with a newborn baby. Under US law, Barack is a US citizen no matter where he was born because his mother was an American citizen, born and raised in Kansas. The question of location is only relevant to the “Natural Born” requirement to be President. Barack’s parents could not have known at the time of his birth that this would be an issue. “
