Supporting Our Troops And Their Families

Today is the day we honor those who have served our country, both the troops and their families.

On days like this there are always debates about how to honor them, with views as diverse as the political spectrum. Some honor them by fighting for peace while others do so with flags.

But there is one thing I think we can all agree on. Those who are killed or wounded in service to this country deserve the deepest respect and so do the families who suffer along with them.

One of the best charities out there is Fisher House. Fisher House provides support for families with loved ones that have been wounded or killed in service. Imagine what it must be like to rush to the side of a wounded father/mother/husband/wife/son/daughter and to be staying at a hotel full of happy tourists ?

Imagine the cost when you have to stay for weeks on end ?

Fisher House provides free lodging for these families in an environment where everyone knows what you are going through.

We don’t always agree with eech other here at TMV but why don’t we come together to donate for this wonderful cause ?

Please give what you can

Another superb cause is Paws For Purple Hearts which helps provide therapy pets for troops with PTSD (thanks for that Shaun !)

And remember you can give any day of the year.

Fully agree on both organizations. Thanks Patrick.

  2. You bring up a very good point… I thanked all the veterans that I know that I saw this weekend “for their service” starting with my son who is finishing up his inactive duty after three remarkable war-zone deployments with the United States Marine Corp. He naturally thanked me for my support and the many “care packages” sent. I had the pleasure of hanging out with him and his combat buddies several times and above all they are in a word – humble (and a fun group of guys).

I am blessed in that all the veterans that I know are physically healthy. Memorial Day is for those that made the ultimate sacrifice and those who served, came home and passed before us. Your very good point is that Veterans Day is a perfect day to remember those veterans that have been injured and how better to do that than as you have proposed to support Fisher House. Thanks for a great idea!
