It is one of the most persistent myths that Ross Perot drew support from George Bush Sr and was the reason Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. Exit polling reported in the New York Times the day after the election showed Perot voters were drawn equally from Bush and Clinton: 38% would have voted for Bush and 38% would have voted for Clinton if Perot had not been on the ballot. The rest would have either voted for other candidates or would not have voted.

"Liberal MSM."

Discredited anything that came after it. Never has a mantra been so used, and abused that it literally has NO meaning anymore. And as soon as it is uttered I know anything after it is pre-programmed hogwash devoid of nuance.

I see Fox News, ABC(Disney Corp), NBC, Wall Street Journal, New York Post (hahahaha), and could name a zillion other news outlets that are NOT very liberal, to outright far right in some cases. So to use the term "liberal media" as a protection from facts and reality has spun itself into the ground long, long ago.

Hagel is a creature of the Liberal MSM. He is widely despised in the GOP...but is continually boosted by liberals in the media (and Democrats) as an "independent" Republican.

While Independent Democrats such as Lieberman are heretics that must be purged from the party...Independent Republicans are courageous champions of honesty who tell truthiness to power (or some such).

Joe calls this right. The great liberal hope in '08 is for a Republican Nader. However, I would disagree on this point:

"But in the end, it won’t be a cakewalk for Bloomberg or Hagel if they do run. They would be under more intense media scrutiny than ever. The two major parties would work to exclude them from any debates."

The Democrats will, of course, boost Bloomberg/Hagel every chance they get. They will get a smooth ride from the MSM similar to McCain's treatment in 2000 (and notably unlike McCain's treatment by the MSM in 07!). No chance of winning, of course...just to damage the GOP.

Hagel is a creature of his vanity. Bloomberg always seemed craftier...but we will see if he succumbs to the MSM's seduction to be a GOP-killer.

Time to Draft Michael Bloomberg. Though we should not be so quick about choosing another while male for VP. Perhaps a fusion candida? As independents we have many great choices. Send alternatives to Hagel to the Draft Committee www.draftmichael.com.
