If it’s a gambit, it will fail. The critics want the heads of the people at the top. Such resignations, if anything, will only whet their appetite for more.
Gonzales has to know that its his head they’re after, but also knows that Bush will never pull the plug, no matter how badly he testifies. I think Gonzo and McNulty have not been getting along since McNulty’s initial testimony, and the AG is angry because his deputy indicated there were performance issues. That started the investigation really rolling.
