Don't worry. Before this thing plays out there will be plenty of blame to go around. The fingerpointing has already started with Tenet's book and the administration's response. I have to say that Tony Blair seems like a brilliant statesman, but regardless, the chips will fall where they may. You are judged by the company you keep, remember?

It's great how people are so willing to free Bush and Blair from any responsibility for the Iraq disaster. With Blair, it's all Bush's fault and with Bush it's all Cheney and Wolfowitz.

Let's not ignore that they are both free thinking people who ultimately had to make the decision and because of that they are ultimately responsible.

I agree wholeheartedly with the facts that have been assembled here in a nutshell by the above poster "cosmoetica"

Also, I’ve been reading and re-reading the various hate blogs that vilify everything about Tony Blair and his policies. These blogs are purportedly written by Conservative Councillors hailing from various parts of Britain, mostly from the London area. These so-called Councillors are probably paid stooges sitting in prison cells with nothing better to do. Apparently, there’s no law against stealing another person’s identity if the impostor gains no financial rewards, but merely ruins the reputation of the owner of the name he has stolen.

At least, with a definitive departure date, Tony Blair has shut these charlatan bloggers up once and for all. Yesterday's and today’s pages are unusually insipid and lacking in content – most of the authors have announced the demise or a hiatus in their blogs. I wonder why?

'He didn’t support the Iraq War for the reasons Bush and the neoconservatives did. He didn’t support it out of a naive belief in the benevolent hegemony of America. He didn’t support it because of oil. He didn’t support it because he had some messianic vision for the Middle East. No, he supported it because removing a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do, a tyrant who had gassed his own people, who was still committing heinous atrocities against his own people, who would never accept the terms of U.N. resolutions, who continued to pose a threat to the region.'

He echoed Bush all the way, so where do you get this schism? Simply because he's a liberal. Rt or Left, the war was supported for oil and to to ax WMDs. The oilr was there, the WMDs were not.
