Surely there must be a cartoon in the world somewhere showing Assange going through Herman Cain and Obama’s last 25 years of history, and letting the cat(s) out of the bags.
Right now Politico gets the ‘Cat Out of the Bag award’ re Herman Cain’s ‘silent settlement’ to make sexual harrassment charges ‘go away’ it seems.
What does Politico win?
I think a trophy three piece gilded suit torn to shreds… by the cats.
On a serious note, I wonder, not about partisanship in media, but about lack of guts in media, esp the ‘big guys’ who have the money and clout to do investigations. Politico and other investigative and ‘listening’ sites online continue to grow in reach and depth because the ‘big guys’ seem not to be listening to the wind… whether that wind blow ill or good, or just be another long ribbon of flatulence. Used to be newsrooms of MSM knew the diff. Used to be the rainbow ended in a pot of gold instead of ending at a portapotty.
“I wonder, not about partisanship in media, but about lack of guts in media, esp the ‘big guys’ who have the money and clout to do investigations” – Dr. E
I’ve wondered about his myself, but have written it off to the declining demand for (and perhaps declining awareness of) high standards in our society. There really is no excuse though, and it looks like the MSM is being left in it’s own dinosaur dung as it’s passed by the smaller investigative outfits who still remember what the job is about.
Flatulent expression or expressive distaste for the hairy backfire of likely thin airy details, I would suspect…..*.
I so agree with this… have many of my own questions about what is occurring in the political and media and how they do the shuffle dance in a parallel reality that has so little to do with the real concerns of the American people.
Re-cycling in the real work is good, but the continuous re-cycling of much of political media these days is ‘garbage in and garbage out’, spinning around and around.
I don’t understand why the media has gotten so lazy these days, but assume it has to do with money/profit/ and perhaps complexity.
I would like to give an example and not intended to hi-jack the thread.
Recently listened to a long interview by Ellen Schultz who is an award-winning investigative reporter for the Wall Street Journal, reveals how large companies and the retirement industry-benefits consultants, insurance companies, and banks-have all played a huge and hidden role in the death spiral of American pensions and benefits. She methodically showed how the so-called retirement crisis is no accident and that it has been brewing since the early 90′s in the back broadrooms of the most powerful corporations.
One of the things she talked about was how most large corporate companies have been and continue to take huge multimillion dollar policies on their lower level employees and when the employee dies the money goes to fund the executive level retirement and bonus funds….unbeknown to the employee or the deceased families.
There are many credible journalist that have taken the hard effort to write books that go deeper, yet rarely is anything with real substance is picked up by the politicians and the big media..
Do they think we are stupid and cannot handle the truth or are they just lazy or are not themselves able to sort through the complexity and translate it into soundbites?
I also want to add the name of the book by Ellen E. Schultz: ” Retirement Heist: How Companies Plunder and Profit from the Nest Eggs of American Workers”
Also would love to hear the journalist at TMV explain how they see the present big media/political demise and what can be done about it.
