PETA Sues Seaworld For Slavery

Now I am a big animal right supporter and I am concerned that all animals in captivity are treated properly, but as usual PETA is making themselves look ridiculous.

They are asking a federal judge to award constitutional rights to a group of whales.

Of course to a degree this is a PR stunt, but I am sure there are people who really think this makes sense…

I love PETA. I swear at the top is a small grp of people randomly coming up with insane stunts to pull just to see how many of their own followers they can get to protest and how much actual news attn they can get. It helps me to think of them in those terms. If I had to believe there are a bunch of thinking adult people that actually feel that way about animals my faith in humanity would suffer a sever blow.

This is shocking to me. Just decided not to send the year end check to PETA this time. This whole PETA thing has gone nuts. So I would say that we agree Patrick.

I’d say that, considering that PETA is asking to have the Courts grant constitutional rights to property, this case is going to be decided on the pleadings. It will get 12(b)(6)’ed. That means, in non-legalese, that the case will be dismissed for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. It won’t even have to go to oral argument on the motion to dismiss.

Killer whales and dolphins are highly intelligent and sentient creatures. What does it take to educate people about this fact? Maybe something sensational like this..

  5. Stray Mongrel says:

Every time I see PETA make headlines in the news, I make it a point to eat Two dead animals for dinner instead of One.

Tonight it will be a chicken and a cow on the same plate.

    Bon Appetite.

It’s mainly laughable, though the seeking here of judicial activism is lowlife lefty behavior, too.

Violating the marine animals’ Thirteenth Amendment protection, are they?

Why not be bold and ask the judge to make a general ruling that applies to zoos and pet owners, even?

  7. sentry says:

Next PETA will want animals to be given “rights” to income support as well as food, and health care.

If environmental activists are paying attention, granting rights to trees, rocks, and soil comes next. It would enjoin (the stoppage of) mountaintop removal to get at coal deposits, don’t you know.
