Gaddafi Said To now be Buried in Secret Location along with others.

“The bodies of Gaddafi, his son Mutassim and former Defense Minister Abu Bakr Younis had been held in cold storage in the port city of Misurata since the dictator and members of his entourage were captured near his hometown of Sirte on Thursday. Gaddafi and Mutassim were captured alive, with some injuries, but died in unclear circumstances later that day.

“Libya’s interim leaders have promised an investigation, responding to mounting international pressure.

“On Monday, Beitalmal had said the three would be buried in unmarked graves in a secret location to prevent vandalism. Presumably, the graves would also be kept hidden to avoid turning them into shrines for Gaddafi loyalists.

“International organizations asking to see the burial site would be given access, Beitalmal said.”

The process sounds reasoned and respectful, and now we shall see what shall happen next. There are many stories of prophets’, bandits’, saints’ and criminals’ bodies being stolen and re-stolen for various reasons over the centuries. I will hope these will find eternal rest without further incident.

loyalists will just pick a spot and call it his grave…should have buried him at sea.

that’s exactly the thought i had SL. Like bin Laden. I know some would say, then ‘he sleeps with the fishes.’ But i tend to think returns to what we are made of, sand to sand, water to water. Your point about designating some ground, any ground, “holy ground of the martyr’ is quite so, I think. Much of that occured at end of WWII, in terms of not knowing where many were and just designating ground and ceremonializing it. I was thinking how people in Spain have decided, for instance, where they ‘believe’ Lorca is buried…

    Dr E.

I think it is a good idea to keep it hidden as the location of where Gaddafi is said to be buried, because of the reasons you have stated. In the last post I wrote I was called trolling for giving my thoughts about the brutal way the Leader of Libya was hastend to his death on world wide news, in which by now is the norm for a ever increasing violence we see on the media, blow for blow on public television and air waves of any type of hand held device. I don,t consider myself a troll when I have been a member of this forum for 2 years going on..and resent that label for speaking my mind or opionion. Free speech is my right as well as everyone who joins this public floor. I will try to adjust (her) opinion who called me this and hope I to make myself clearer in the following:

I regard a person of another country who has ruled that country for 42 years and people, as its Head, and Ruler in this case deserves some respect from those who are under his sovereignty all of humanity deserves to be treated without hate.

And in conclusion We should remember that we are an extension of each other in the Amighty,s eyes. Not to be judged less we be judged. Personally I feel it isn,t right in its very act to what it looked like to me to avenge a death for many deaths in a mob mentality. Perhaps their wasn,t a clear disciplined ‘leader’ in charge who might of prevented the madness of those final moments and someone who would of laid out the ground rules in terms of ‘Capture’ .. I don,t know I just know We are better than that to be truly a civilized human being.

I hope a burial, proper..calms and heals the past so that a new start can begin now.

Thank you Dr E. you are 100% on as always in the right light of things.

well, I untroll you Ras. All people here who write their thoughts within the rules for commenters at TMV are welcome here. Often people find things to agree with one another on, and sometimes not. Ad hominem attacks are against the TMV rules, and civil discussion is why we keep this platform. Adding to that civil discussion makes comments readable by others instead of skipped over by those who are serious readers. Thanks.

Ras, please understand that your sympathy for a monster that not only committed terrorist acts, but also murdered, tortured, and oppressed his own people for decades, is so out in left field that no one can possibly believe it.

The fact that you write about him with such respect is quite disturbing. It reminds of people that say, “Hilter was crazy, but he did some great things for Germany”…and yes, i have heard that phrase more than once.

I came back to Moderate Voice once again via Dr. Estes’ web site via Coast to Coast. Very much looking forward to reading your new book. WWRWTW is a bedside fixture read and reread. I have found great insight and support there. Thank you.
I shared many of Ras’s feelings re the vulgarity in which Gaddahi’s death and the announcement of that death were handled. Perhaps foolishly given the circumstances of his life. We all deserve a good death in my mind. I don’t believe we have to sink to the viciousness that we abhor to eliminate it. It is a new world that we seek, no? Not the sameness and brutality of the old.
