Why not? The storyline that we have been making progress in Iraq has been maintained by the Right Wing noise maching has been maintained since Mission Accomplished”!

A similar game of chicken shut down the US government a decade ago. At least Biden is framing his storyline within the appropriate — “with every penny the troops need” — narrative.

Whether the storyline of politically disinterested patriotic Democrats interested solely in supporting the troops can be maintained in the face of a sceptical media is an interesting question. The Great Left Noise Machine is revving its engines, I am sure.

I wasn’t entirely sure what Biden meant, but according to the Washington Post, he wants Harry Reid to send the same bill back up again.

Biden and Edwards urged Democrats to send the supplemental funding bill back to the president and force him to veto it again. “I favor a relentless push on the president, with every penny the troops need, because this guy is not going to change until the Republicans up here crack,” Biden said in an interview. “That is happening, but it may take until September.”
