Pat Buchanan’s New Book “Suicide of A Superpower” Laments the “End of White America” & Says Legislated Equality of Rights for Blacks Led to “Socialist Utopia”

Patrick J. Buchanan's "Suicide of A Superpower," "Will America Survive to 2025?"

Pat Buchanan’s latest book, “Suicide of a Superpower,” will undoubtedly irk many. We recently received an advance copy of the audio book from Macmillan Audio, read by Buchanan himself, and I must say, it’s interesting, and classic Pat Buchanan — gloom and doom — with maximum controversy interspersed throughout. This is our review of Buchanan’s latest work. Whether you agree with his views or not, it’s a hard-hitting and powerful book. Some may say it all amounts to bullsh*t, but I say everyone should read this book to see what the enemy is thinking.

The book begins:

“As the faith that gave birth to the West is dying in the West, peoples of European descent from the steppes of Russia to the coast of California have begun to die out, as the Third World treks north to claim the estate. The last decade provided corroborating if not conclusive proof that we are in the Indian Summer of our civilization.”

He asks, “Will America Survive to 2025?”

“America is disintegrating. The centrifugal forces pulling us apart are growing inexorably. What unites us is dissolving. And this is true of Western Civilization….Meanwhile, the state is failing in its most fundamental duties. It is no longer able to defend our borders, balance our budgets, or win our wars.”

The chapter that piqued our interest was Chapter 4, “The End of White America:”

“[W]hite America is an endangered species. By 2020, whites over 65 will out-number those 17 and under. Deaths will exceed births. The white population will begin to shrink and, should present birth rates persist, slowly disappear.”

“Mexico is moving north. Ethnically, linguistically and culturally, the verdict of 1848 is being over-turned. Will this Mexican nation within a nation advance the goals of the Constitution — to “insure domestic tranquility” and ‘make us a more perfect union’? Or have we imperiled our union?”

In other words, America is heading for disaster since whites won’t be a majority. Really? Only Pat Buchanan could make a black or Latino feel dirty, just because of the color of their skin.

We were also very “moved” (being sarcastic) by Chapter 6, “Equality vs. Freedom,” in which he lamented that “the end to segregation and the legislated equality of rights for African Americans,” have led to a “socialist utopia.” Is he condoning Jim Crow, segregation and racial injustice in this country? Gee, I can’t seem to remember hearing Pat Buchanan’s name being mentioned in the struggle for racial justice and equality. Every time he is embroiled in controversy it is because of racially motivated comments emanating from his lips on national television. So, I guess, in other words, inequality is just fine for Pat Buchanan and his posse. Just as long as the white right-wing evangelicals are calling the shots.

He also bemoans the end of “Christian America” in Chapter 2:

“If [Christopher] Dawson is correct, the drive to de-Christianize America, to purge Christianity from the public square, public schools and public life, will prove culturally and socially suicidal for the nation.”

“The last consequence of a dying Christianity is a dying people. Not one post-Christian nation has a birth rate sufficient to keep it alive….The death of European Christianity means the disappearance of the European tribe, a prospect visible in the demographic statistics of every Western nation.”

Um, the right wing evangelicals are partly to blame for the sharp decline in church membership. People have realized there are far too many hypocrites, of all races, gracing pulpits across this country. Why even bother going to church to listen to their spiel? You know it’s not coming from a place of humility and authenticity. Didn’t the Bible prophesy that the end times would be just like this?

Of course, he doesn’t leave President Obama out of his discourse. In Chapter 3, “The Crisis of Catholicism,” he goes in for the kill:

“Half a century on, the disaster is manifest. The robust and confident Church of 1958 no longer exists. Catholic colleges and universities remain Catholic in name only. Parochial schools and high schools are closing as rapidly as they opened in the 1950s. The numbers of nuns, priests and seminarians have fallen dramatically. Mass attendance is a third of what it was. From the former Speaker of the House to the Vice President, Catholic politicians openly support abortion on demand.”

“How can Notre Dame credibly teach that all innocent life is sacred, and then honor a president committed to ensuring that a woman’s right to end the life of her innocent child remains sacrosanct?”

Pat Buchanan is of the viewpoint that we can never create a nation in which all the races, tribes, cultures and creeds of Earth are all equal. That utopia can never exist. I guess he is right. We can’t all be equal but that doesn’t mean we lose sight of the Biblical truth of taking care of the least among us. That doesn’t mean we can’t give each child the opportunity to succeed despite the color of his or her skin. I will say, this was a very riveting book and I suspect it will be a New York Times bestseller, but the racial undertones will continue to fan the flames of distrust and hatred for everything Pat Buchanan stands for. He, like many ultra conservatives, are threatened by the “browning” of America. Tough luck. People like Pat Buchanan, Bryan Fischer, Rush Limbaugh and others are the ones really “killing the real country we inherited — the best and greatest country on earth.” I guess the publicity team won’t be too pleased with my review of this book, but then again, isn’t that what makes America great? Freedom of expression?

  1. When is this silly old man going to retire?

  2. Allen — That’s the same question I am also asking. I’m tired of seeing his face on MSNBC.

  3. I’m sure the white supremacist racist’s book will appeal to all the other white supremacist racists.

  4. I’m afraid PJB’s trying to take the same route that what’s’his’name… Robert Novak took. Both their minds departed several years before their mouths stopped moving but they continued drawing paychecks for ‘entertaining’ the fringe and the wack-o’s.

They’ve much in common excepting that Buchanan has gone out of his way to add racist to his list of ‘accomplishments.’

All’s left for PJB to do is:

    • Out a CIA operative and
    • Run down a pedestrian

And he can consider his ‘race’ well run.

And when he and “Bob” meet down below, they’ll have to call it a draw… guess that’s the hell of it.

  5. Pretty much agree with you on this one, SteveK.

  6. Pat has issues. He’s always had issues. Why he has so many fans is a testament to how many other people have issues. Maybe when he meets the maker he professes to have so much faith in he can get his bad wiring cured once and for all.

  7. Janet… I haven’t read the book, but I listen to Buchcanan as a regular contributor on Hardball and Morning Joe. I find him to be on an even keel and insightful. They obviously don’t find him to be terrbily bigoted or he would not be asked back.

What’s wrong with lamenting the end of our country as we know it, lamenting the end of Christianity, lamenting a President who facilitates abortions, lamenting social programs started by LBJ that turned a disproportionate number of African Americans into welfare addicts, lamenting unmarried women who turn into baby factories because the monthly check will be bigger, asking if the U.S. being overrun by Latinos will slowly move the English language to 2nd tier status. What’s wrong with asking these questions? They might be goofy, but what is wrong with a guy asking them?

What really upsets most whites is the fact that we are called racist when we disagree with those African Americans with a radical, racist mindset. It’s OK to form an African American ATF Agents Association, but not OK to form a White ATF Agents Assoc. Why not? Because it is not poltically correct…it’s racist.

Disagree with Mr. Buchanan all you want to, but try leaving “racist” out of the discussion. You will be taken much more seriously by a much larger number of people.

  8. Don’t have a clue what could have prompted Buchanan to make such rash assumptions in his book. He might have been thinking about the threatening thugs at last years polling place that were never charged, or maybe he picked up on some of this stuff:

Augustin Cebada, Brown Berets; “Go back to Boston! Go back to Plymouth Rock, Pilgrims! Get out! We are the future. You are old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you. Leave like beaten rats. You old white people. It is your duty to die. Through love of having children, we are going to take over.

Richard Alatorre, Los Angeles City Council. “They’re afraid we’re going to take over the governmental institutions and other institutions. They’re right. We will take them over . . . We are here to stay.”

Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico , “The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot.”

Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas; “We have an aging white America . They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are shitting in their pants with fear. I love it.”

Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, “Remember 187–proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens–was the last gasp of white America in California .”

Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, “We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country. I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, “I’m going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back.”

Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton, “California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn’t like it should leave.”

Jose Pescador Osuna, Mexican Consul General, “We are practicing ‘La Reconquista’ in California.”

Professor Fernando Guerra, Loyola Marymount University; “We need to avoid a white backlash by using codes understood by Latinos.”

  9. Malcontent, it is racist. Its the breed of racism that runs deep in the GOP. Its the kind of racism every man in my family from Cleveland has. The same absurd whining, that white christian america is disappearing. The Klan has been spouting that garbage for years, and its no truer from them. This country is over 90% Christian, 98% of its elected officials are Christian, and 100% of its presidents have been Christian. Yet still they feel like just because tax dollars can’t be spent on their BS, or that Jewish and Hindu children aren’t forced to pray to Jesus in schools, that they are being persecuted. I get so sick of it. Religion is for the home and bible school. Parents and communities have every hour not spent in public schools to indoctrinate their sprats into whatever hoodoo they want, but school is for teaching actual stuff.

Don’t blame the Gov’t for lack of attendance at Mass, try blaming the platoons of child raping priests that were shielded from on high by the policies of the church for that.

There is an undercurrent of this kind of racism in the GOP, and they don’t want to acknowledge it. Its layered with facts that seem relevant and scary, but when looked at in context it really isn’t. The constant worry of these groups is that White Christian America is disappearing. It is the same message that the KKK and neo-nazi’s use to get people worked up. Don’t buy into it, its crap.

And Pat isn’t catering to the fringe guys. His book is going to sell millions. Every single one of Rush Limbaugh’s fans, every member of my midwest american relations, and many FOX News watchers are going to buy it, read it, and think Pat made some really great points. This is the GOP today guys.

  10. slamfu:

Christian influence is waining. Number of Christian churches is in decline. Catholic churches are having a hard time signing up young priests. This is fact. Whatever the reasons, it is happening. It has nothing to do with racism, and Buchanan never said it did. White America has had a pretty good run…he hates to see it go.

Christians believe that this country was founded on Christian principles and there is lots of history to back this up. This is what Buchanan thinks and he has a right to say so. Saying so is not racist.

The definition of racism is “a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others”.

Is trying to get someone to think and act like you do racist, or is it just natural to want everyone to “join the club”? I think the latter.

Is wanting them to speak the same language to promote nationalism racist? I don’t think so.

The country elected an African American President and the Repub’s have an African American candidate who is very popluar right now with the Tea Party crowd. This, in itself, kind of poo-poo’s the idea that White America’s beef is with African Americans and Latinos, does it not?

I would suggest that White America’s anger has nothing to do with race, per se, but more to do with actions and ideology, and being tired of people of color calling them racists for saying or doing the same things they are.

  11. Well many christians would like to believe that this country was founded on Christian ideals, but the fact is that is not true. Christian ideals had been around for 1800 years before the founding of this country, many an king and country went to bat for “Christian Ideals” such as Spain, the Roman Catholic church etc…

The ideals this country is based on came from the Enlightenment, not the bible. “In God We Trust” was not on our currency, the pledge of allegiance made no reference to God, etc… that all came much later.

What Buchanan is lamenting is the perception that white christians will have less influence, because they have come to hae so much. Frankly, their power base had no where to go but down, and they are still firmly the most dominant demographic. He also wants to draw some correlation between our levels of Christian belief and our status as a world power. Once again, the two are not related, but since the GOP last decade tanked our reputation and status in the world it is very convenient to pass the buch not to our actions, but to this nebulous “Lack of Faith”. Its BS.

And because they found a black candidate so what? The GOP is generally disdainful of minorities, their needs, their situation. This entire premise of a diminishing white america has the implication that non-whites are somehow less American and there is something lost if white are no longer the dominant demographic.

  12. I know a many secular people whose lives are considerably more christian-like than many others I know who wear their christianity on their sleeves. AFAIC, the message of Jesus was simple and direct. It’s a pity so much of institutionalized christianity has lost sight of it.

  13. Ms. Shan does her best to stretch what Buchanan said into racial territory. He never says that we shouldn’t provide for those among us who are down and out. He says that the welfare system we created produces addicts who are no longer willing to do for themselves. African Americans happen to have a disproportionate amount of people in these programs. Using the definition of “racist”, are his comments racist or just fact.

The Canadians and Puerto Ricans had the same dire financial problems we do a decade or so ago. I didn’t know this until I read this piece. Please go to this link and read about it and what they did to overcome the situation. The recovery started with a revamping of their welfare “give-a-way” system. We should take heed.

  14. Buchanon gets away with his racism because he uses big words in convoluted sentences and hasn’t yet called African-Americans n*****s.

  15. Buchanan, Novak, and Limbaugh all hearken back to the golden age of white authority coupled with blacks who showed proper respect or were lynched. Mexicans too were respectful of the farmers who underpaid them, and all non-whites knew their place.

In 20 years, the color of America will be tan, in thirty, it will be yellow. That’s just basic world genetics. The old school exemplified by this group just represent the end of one era and the beginning of the next. As the old era ends, the extreme views will just become more pronounced.

    just my opinion

  16. Hemmann, I respect your opinion. You are right about the “blending” of races as time marches on. Look at the Italians…back before Christ they were a light headed, blue eyed, light complexioned lot.

It’s losing our language, our principal religion, and fractured value system that has Buchanan upset. He has the right to share his dred.

As for zippee’s comment, I will repeat the fact that MSNBC’s Hardball and Morning Joe shows would not have Buchanan as a regular guest if he was the least bit racist or over the top on any issue.

Some people just don’t like him, but should refrain from making up stuff to justify their feelings.

  17. Everybody says there is this race problem. Everybody says this race problem will be solved when the third world pours into every white country and only into White countries.
The Netherlands and Belgium are more crowded than Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this race problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and “assimilating” with them.
Everybody says the final solution to this race problem is for every White country and only White countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.
What if I said there was this race problem and this race problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into every Black country and only into Black countries?
How long would it take anyone to realize I’m not talking about a race problem. I am talking about the final solution to the Black problem?
And how long would it take any sane Black man to notice this and what kind of psycho Black man wouldn’t object to this?
But if I tell that obvious truth about the ongoing program of genocide against my race, the White race, liberals and respectable conservatives agree that I am a naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews.
They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-white.
    Anti-racist is a code word for anti-white.

  18. The so-called “anti-racists” need to be reminded that under international law:

Article II: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group

GENOCIDE IS GENOCIDE,whether accomplished by bullets, mustard gas,or mass immigration and social engineering.

    Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white.

  19. The man has wrOte a book from personal experience and truth..these things are really happening to our country that he mentions im his book whether we like it or not..looks like most people cnt handle the truth..”those who hate, only hate the truth”
