Laws Against Beating Blacks: The New Slavery

Family Research Council: Hate Crimes law violates the 13th (and 15th) Amendments. Those would be the anti-slavery and right to vote amendments.

Idiots.

To be clear, there is a valid 1st and 14th Amendment objection to these laws, and the FRC did mention the 14th amendment (not the 1st, though, which seems the most obvious). The issue isn’t whether the law is ultimately constitutional or not. The issue is what mind-contortion makes the Hate Crimes bill violate the right to vote. I mean, to quote Zapp Branigan: “You must of smoked some bad granola.”
