Jessica Lynch Didn’t Follow Script Written For Her: A Unique Form of Bravery »

Through thick and thin, through “good” wars and bad, there have been no allies of the U.S. more ferociously committed to seeing the casus belli through until the last man is left standing – and none more overlooked by Americans – than Australia and New Zealand.
And so the Dear Friend & Conscience (who is from Oz) and I take a moment each Anzac Day to tip our hats to our Aussie and Kiwi family and friends, as well as the dear departed who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I am surprised there are no comments on this post of Shaun’s.
The Aussies have been the United States’ most consistent ally over the years. Aussies fought with the US in Vietnam, and in Korea.
More consistent than the Brits…who have always had a love-hate thing for the yanks.
Clearly, as Shaun notes above, not many people think of the Aussies in this regard.
Perhaps they are better known for their reputation as party animals…which is, admittedly, well deserved. I met a crew in Italy years ago who were positively crazed. Great fun.
Cheers
