President Bush’s Last Chance: To Save Himself From His ‘Friends & Cronies’

I can understand the dilemma of President George W. Bush. One can blame him for everything. But no one can question Bush’s loyalty to his friends/cronies.

And he is honest about that. It does not matter to him that because of ‘them’ he has suffered in terms of reputation and credibility even at the international level.

However, Bush has got a wonderful chance to get out the clutches of his friends and cronies. Now he can always blame the Congress for standing between him and the aspirations of his friends/cronies (fs and cs).

But George W. Bush is too sincere a person – so far as his fs and cs are concerned. Here my Chinese astrology comes handy!!! In Chinese astrology he is a Fire Dog. He is most loyal to those whom he loves…and he can’t help it. (Click here to read more…) And here…

“Congressional Democrats agreed Monday to ignore President Bush’s veto threat and send him a $124 billion war spending bill that orders the administration to begin pulling troops out of Iraq by Oct. 1, says The New York Times.

“ ‘On Iraq, the American people want a new direction, and we are providing it,’ said Senator Patty Murray, Democrat of Washington, a leader of the Congressional negotiators who came to terms on the legislation that has become a test of wills between Mr. Bush and the Democratic majority on Capitol Hill.

“The House and Senate are to vote on the agreement and send it to the White House by the end of the week, and Democrats expressed confidence that they could secure narrow approval. But even as they ironed out differences between House and Senate approaches to Iraq policy and cut some spending that has drawn Republican scorn, Democrats acknowledged that the bill would be rejected by the president…”

  1. Chris says:

But no one can question Bush’s loyalty to his friends/cronies.

Not true. He has thrown Michael Brown and Scooter Libby to the wolves.

Loyalty means a lot to Bush, until he needs to find a scapegoat.

  2. Good point.

Probably what he perceives as ‘real friends’.

  3. Nobody says:

Many of us have encouraged the President to accept the deadlines. This one for October is perfect.

He should sign it and then bring the troops home immediately. This will put what happens on the Democrats head and force them to be held accountable for what transpires in the middle east.

When gasoline hits 10 bucks a gallon because the middle east is in flames. When the USA economy puts 8 percent in the unemployed ranks, it will all fall in the Democrats lap.

They will have to explain why the USA is unemployed and spending 10 bucks on gasoline. Why Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Winnebago, and a 1000 other job producing companies are in chapter 11. Why all our airlines are bankrupt and the price to fly to NY from LA is 2000 dollars per ticket.

This will be their legacy as the people go to the polls in November 2008.

We encourge President Bush to give the Antiwar and the Democrats what they want. Out of Iraq.

  4. Nobody says:

No we really dont encourage him to do this. The reasons are obvious. The smear campaign on Bush has worked. He will work to make the transition as easy as possible. To ensure that Jobs and growth and companies and the American way of life is protected as much as he can in the next year or so.

However these Deadlines the Democrats are throwing at the President. They are pandering. And if they are honest about them then they support what I outlined about as being an acceptable consequence of their Antiwar stupidity.

But then mabey none of that will happen. Whose right. Bush wont take the chance that I am right. The democrats know he wont take that chance either because if Bush accepted their deadlines and they are wrong then God help us all.

  5. kritter says:

Nobody- the way Bush has governed, no one needs to mount a smear campaign, lol!. He self-destructs all on his own, choosing incompetent , 99% ideologically pure cronies time after time, who apparently have not served him or the country well in the long run.

Its not the Democrats’ fault that he decided that 9/11 was caused by Saddam Hussein, or that the ISG had too many of his father’s friends in it. He has built this house of cards without any help from the Democrats or from wiser Republicans from his Dad’s administration. You can try and make it their fault if you want, but voters will view this as his failure.

  6. Armand says:

Bush will never give up on his closest “friends” and cronies – apart from tossing one or two to the wolves for show. The reason? Throughout his entire career, in business and politics, it has been other (powerful) people who have made him into what he is. Whether it’s daddy getting him into Yale, family connections getting him out of military service, billionaires financing his campaigns or people willing to purger themselves to the US congress, Bush is nothing without them.

If Bush starts cutting ties with those most responsible for the current debacle (e.g. Cheney, Rove) his entire sandcastle will crumble even faster than it already is.

Bush is nothing more than the biggest political marketing successes/scams of modern times. Sadly this is not a softdrink or car, it’s our Nation that’s at risk.

  7. White Agent says:

Armand- You are absolutely correct in your assessment.. Georgies stupid parents were on TV stating they didn’t want to get in to the “blame game”. Disgusting people they are. Hundreds of thousands die, but oh hell no it can’t be something you would want to blame on anybody. Shit happens right?

The Bush family are perfect examples of what is weak and stupid about America. The sooner forgotten the better.

  8. tonto says:

It’s just my personal impression, but I never felt Bush Sr. agreed with the Iraq war.

    “The sooner forgotten the better.”

I think this every time I read you, WA.
