Doolittle Raid — TPMMuckraker is forwarding a report that the FBI raided Rep. John Doolittle’s home in Northern California. Informed speculation is strongly suggesting that this is connected to the Abramoff scandal and that he is going down hard.

I swear I can’t take another republican corruption case. Might as well just outlaw republicans, arrest them all and put them behind bars!

Nancy Pelosi is tearing a BIG hole in the conservative culture of corruption. Pelosi for President? Hmmmmm…..

  2. SnarkyShark says:

To be fair, Jefferson on the (D) side is probably going down also. But I think we all knew that when they found the frozen (he he) assets. And most people know that being crooked in LA is nothing special, and indeed, can one can end up having a bridge named after oneself in that state for any especially outrages act of it.

So whats the score now, 50-1 or something?

Its funny, they had a program on C-span about Gonzo’s hearing on the Hill today. All of the Republicans kept calling in asking when Jefferson’s hearing was going to be.-Its all they have left-now that they’ve worn out complaining about Bill Clinton. What would they call in about if Jefferson hadn’t been caught with that cold cash?

  4. Jim B says:

Didn’t the Dems at least have the good sense to ask him to step down, and when he didn’t removed him from committee stuff? Anyone know?

  5. kritter says:

He was removed from one committee last year. Unfortunately, since then he was re-elected by Louisiana voters who either know about the allegations and don’t care or don’t know and don’t care. This year he was placed on Homeland Security by Pelosi. He is under investigation, but has not been charged or indicted, so I think she had no choice.

Usually it has been about this, almost all Democratic. Did you realize that a major reason why the GOP was trashed in 2006 was because of this increase in such behavior by the Republicans? It’s not 50-1 R-D but you know who’s been in the news the past few years and who has not, generally.

[The real solution: Eliminate all the power Washington has that it shouldn't have. Short of that, tougher controls on federal officials.]

  7. DLS says:

This will probably hurt the Democrats less than the Republicans in 2008.

“Republicans and Democrats are equally likely to be represented in the high-knowledge group. But significantly fewer Republicans (26%) than Democrats (31%) fall into the third of the public that knows the least.”

So, if Republicans know more, why did they vote in the moron-in-chief we’ve got in office now?

  9. Sam says:

Bush’s 33% approval rating represents the third of the public that knows the least.

Sam-The Evangelicals. They go on faith and reject knowledge. They believe it so it must be so. As long as this part of the population can be manipulated by unethical politicians, we can expect more of the same.

BTW- another GOP House member (Rendi)was forced to step down from his committee post after an FBI raid. This was the case US Atty Charleton was working on before it was decided by Gonzales/Rove/Sampson/Goodlink/ Bush that he had problems managing his staff.
