Missile Defense

Why does Europe oppose the Bush administration’s plan to develop such a system?

I analyze this question in a new post at Foreign Policy Watch.

The Russians aren’t happy with Poland and other former Warsaw pact nations joining NATO. They’re even more angry at our kissing up to the Baltic Republics. The system still doesn’t really work, this is just posturing by the Perle hawks.

    Because,

    1.) The system doesn’t work

    and

2.) It antagonizes the one nation that actually poses a serious threat to Europe.

  3. Nobody says:

WEll if it doesnt work then that should be the very reason to let the Americans deploy it.

The USA is simply bypassing the EU and dealing directly with Eastern European nations that want to maintain good relations with the United STates.

Given the fact that EU has become increasingly their own person in the face of the fast receeding and long lost history of World War two and the collapse of the USSR there is a greater need for the United States to foster new diplomatic ties in an area fast becoming not so friendly to the United States.

Notice that some of the first nations to sign onto the Coaliton of the willing was eastern European nations? This was not by accident and the USA took great notice of this. They immediately began strong efforts to forge ties that will replace a Western Europe that is becoming ever so slowly recalcitrant if not downright hostile to the policies of the United States.

This is why I propose the USA pull all forces out of Western Europe and make treaties with Eastern Europeans and put bases and facilities in those countries and help subsidize economies that are struggling. This should be done with Moscow’s blessing.

The problem is Putin Declared in Indonesia in 2003 that Russia was a Muslim Country and promised to be a major player on the world stage in the future. He is not kidding. This fact alone is why the USA must deal with Russia if they want to make in roads into the Muslim world in the Middle east and most particularly Iran.

So putting a missile shield in Poland. Goes way beyond putting a missile shield in Poland.

The problem with Putin is he once talked to Indonesians. Wow.

  5. Rudi says:

carp Talking is a waste, just do a pre-emptive war and spread Democracy.
