Interesting watching TMVs very own Rambo’s on the previous thread on the matter.

Stupidest comment ever seen on a blog.

“I wish I would have been there.”

    No you don’t.

    Snarky,
If you know the mind of others so well as to know that the person who wrote that wasn’t speaking truthfully, then how do you explain people who join the police force in order to put themselves in situations exactly like this one? Of course some people wish they were there; some people even purposely choose to ‘be there’.

  3. The “I wish I would have been there.â€? crowd just don’t see the shades of gray in our world. All they see is good and evil and right and wrong.

It’s the same kind of pathology that leads to the thinking that all Muslims are dangerous, Iran is evil, the United States is saintly. It’s really a dangerous mindset that eschews documentary evidence for preconceived notions.

Maybe they thought that the 3000 law enforcement officers around them would show up on time?

I mean C Stanley says they chose to “be there”…..apparently not….or was it a rerun of the Keystone Cops?

“Here I come to Save the Day!”……not

In the voice of Michael Ware: “I mean…how can we continue to hero-worship our heroes if they look the part but don’t act it?”

    or

They are lead by businessmen that don’t want a media frenzy on their turf….ugh…bad for business. rah rah sis boom bah.

And Chris’ crowd doesn’t see shades of gray in people’s words even when they are there.

What does this shooter have to do with shades of gray? Is there doubt in your mind that entering a public building and showering innocent people with bullets is, in actual fact, wrong? Should we look at it with more nuance than that? Should the people in those dorm and classrooms have stopped to consider how to treat him with kindness and understanding?

I’m ridiculing this line of thinking because I don’t think even you think that way. But I’m taking the approach to your statements that you’ve taken with mine, so that hopefully you can see how absurd that is.

Perhaps people who feel that others see the world as all black and white should stop to consider that although things aren’t ALL black and white, some things actually are black and white rather then gray. You might prevent yourself from saying things that are ridiculous if you stop telling us that black is not black and white is not white or that these two shades don’t exist because it’s all really gray.

White Agent: You’re absolutely right that the cops do not appear to have done what they should have done in this instance. That has nothing to do with the point I was making to Snarky though, which is that the very fact that some people choose to be cops proves that some people do want to put themselves into dangerous situations in order to protect others.

Straw man raised… straw man cut down…

Well, I’m glad you’ve now recognized that you were doing that, Chris.
