After Joe pointed out the comic timing here, I was looking for it. The snap of the drum when the plump singer falls was perfectly timed.

I was also struck by the superb vocal talents of the singers…something which surprised me (to say the least) in Joe’s clip of the Stooges a few weeks back (the Three Stooges could sing…who knew?).

Vaudeville seems to have ensured widely talented performers.

Oddly enough, Michael Richards’ meltdown came to mind while watching this, bringing to mind the difference in comic standards today and in the 50s. I remember reading an interview with Milton Berle, published at his death, which quoted some of the 50+ putdowns he always had handy for hecklers. Pure professionalism.
