I’m waiting for Billo and Hannity to visit the Baghdada markets to show how the surge is going.

yeah, I'm sure their homes could use a few 1$ rugs.

The political situation in Iraq would change if the government moved out of the Green Zone. The average Iraqis has to worry about random acts that could result in death. The politicians sip tea with Blackwater security. Sectarian reconcilition would happen much faster if politicians feared for their lives like those in the McClown market. I'm waiting for Billo and Hannity to visit the Baghdada markets to show how the surge is going.

And our kids are there without training, without rest, without enough equipment - and, some of them, with serious body adn head wounds.

Get them out. Get them out now.

For the love of God, bring our troops home.

I agree with fester re: the bridge. It's somewhat remarkable that the major bridges have avoided attack up to now. If they are destroyed, not only will the various neighborhood enclaves effectively separate from one another but the US will find it nearly impossible to patrol the city.

Holly --- First thanks for the link to the NewsHog, I and the rest of my co-bloggers appreciate it.

Secondly, I think that the bridge attack is more ominous as so far major infrastructure attacks that gird the physical connectivity of Baghdad have been fairly rare excluding the electrical and oil distribution networks. If we start seeing bridges dropping in large numbers than the de-facto partition will be cemented into place as the economic neccessities of cities require massive levels of interconnectedness and the water barrier of the Tigris will make East Baghdad an economically, sectarianly different city than West Baghdad.

kritter- They CAN'T establish security in Baghdad. Furthermore there has never BEEN security in Baghdad. We have to keep the facts straight because in a Democracy we base our decisions on them.....unlike Bush.

I guess the terrorists don't want it to look like the US is able to reestablish security in Baghdad. This is bad news for Petraueus and his surge.
