For those interested in realistic Mafia portrayals on film I recommend two films most have likely never heard of- Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog and John Cassavetes' The Killing Of A Chinese Bookie. The former's a damned good film with Forest Whitaker as the title hitman and the latter is simply SUPERB cinema- realistic, poetic, and Ben Gazzara is every bit the equal of Pacino or De Niro in their Mob roles, but even more tormented and realistic.
