I’m still not sure what Fred Thompson has ever done to show that he can provide leadership on this issue. He left the Senate after one term- what did he accomplish there that qualifies him to criticize how this was handled? And we had a leadership vacuum after 9/11, why didn’t he stick it out then and help this country in her hour of need, instead of returning to TV?

Perhaps because he had nothing to do with the current war on terror. He left very soon after 911 and went back to acting.

How can you indite someone who was acting in a tv show for the perceived sins of the present administration?

Fred Thompson: He has shown the world that his forces can kidnap British citizens, subject them to brutal psychological tactics to coerce phony confessions, finagle the release of a high-ranking Iranian terror coordinator in Iraq, utterly trash the Geneva conventions and suffer absolutely no consequences. How can Thompson complain about trashing so "quaint" a document as the Geneva conventions? How hollow such complaints ring in the aftermath of the revelation of US use of psychological and physical techniqes that make what the Iranians did to their captors seem no more than frat house pranks. Certainly their treatment was a far cry short of , say "death, organ failure or the permanent impairment of a significant body function"? The question of winners and losers in this particular episode aside, its larger significance is that it shows just how much moral authority the US has lost. How frequently are the thoughts expressed by Persian Students In the UK replicated around the world, friend and foe alike?

Well if we have to fight the Iranians, hopefully it won’t be under the â€œbusiness styleâ€? leadership of these idiot republicans. I would feel far more comfortable with Nancy Pelosi in the White House leading a war on Iran than any republican and especially the fools that inhabit it now. Hopefully one impact will be on the American people and the Democrats in Congress, both of whom should realize that the Europeans have essentially given up on fighting the rising tide of Islam.

America is in it alone for all intents and purposes and the question, I think, is not whether to fight them but when, where, and on what terms.

I hope others are thinking along those lines too. But somehow I’m not getting that from Nancy Pelosi and company.
