Get a Life

Get a life. I mean…REALLY.

This is the kind of thing that is sure to convince many independents to vote for Barack Obama: faced with inefficiency and something that inspires THIS SONG and THIS SONG many independents will go with inefficiency that promises better efforts since it’s less scarey.

  1. Yes, when there are real issues to be debated, there are people that would rather throw out flak. Maybe it’s because it’s hard to understand something like economics (once everyone starts spinning from all sides) that some think it’s easier to convince people with something that’s easy to understand.

You’ve got to be kidding me?!

Thats it. I can’t take one more birther
    story. It’s just too much.

Joe’s video is probably the reason that Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s “beat” was hit with it’s third major sandstorm of the season.

It’s almost as if someone (or something?) was trying to tell him to mend his foolish ways.

Phoenix got dust and rain and in Yuma we’re suffering with 27% humidity. :)

I know the right leaning folks here (with a couple exceptions) are generally reasonable and sincere folks, but I think even they may fail to realize just how many people out there are willing to believe this sort of nonsense. I encounter them not infrequently day to day and the level of ignorance and bad information can be quite astounding. It’s one thing to be an average citizen who isn’t up to speed, but it’s downright stupid and irresponsible for people who are in positions of power and influence to suck up to this BS – and bad for the country to boot.

Btw Steve, I was living in Phoenix back in 71 ~ 72 and we got hit with a hellacious sandstorm while I was there. The sky turned dark orange and the dust moved in with a vengeance. Afterward there wasn’t really any place the dust didn’t manage to penetrate so far as I could see. Mother nature still holds all the cards.

Joe will just humor these slightly deluded folks (too much sand and sun):
“What I have agreed to do, contrary to some published media reports, is simply look at the evidence these people have assembled and examine whether it is within my jurisdiction to investigate the document’s authenticity,” Arpaio said.

Are you implying that Sheriff Joe’s response was a reasonable thing to say?

“You people have been shown time-after-time that President Obama was born in the US… Stop acting like a bunch of idiots!” would have been a more responsible (adult?) thing to say.

  8. dduck

You, obviously have never run for sheriff in AZ.
It was the political thing to say. Your way would just extend the argument, just as it would on TMV.

    @dduck

Are you saying that we haven’t been shown beyond reasonable doubt (and time-after-time) that President Obama was born in the US?

Your charge that “my way” would “just extend the argument” is true only when others, that know better (know fact IS a fact) remain silent and push the argument simply for partisan reasons. Those people are intentionally keeping us at each others throats and IMO those people are idiots.

FWIW: As an Arizona resident I know that there are several Sheriffs in the state that have successfully “run for Sheriff” and still are on a first name basis with reality.

Sheriff Joe is the only one I know of who is charged with:

    2.8.1 Unconstitutional Jail Conditions
2.8.2 Department of Justice Civil Rights Lawsuit
    2.8.3 Abuse of Power
2.8.4 Feud with Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and Maricopa Superior Court
    2.8.5 Election Law Violation
    2.8.6 Misuse of funds ($100M+)
    2.8.7 Munnell Memo

O was born in Hawaii and I never thought differently. Furthermore, I would vote for a naturalized citizen before i would vote for a U.S. born schmuck, if that would occur.
I’m saying that Joe backed off and seems to be humoring these people. I’m not commenting on his past which appears to be very bad. OK?

Arpaio is an embarrassment to sane policy. Yet his fame created idiot savant copycats. A sheriff in Florida is calling his insanity and trumping with even more lunacy.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has a budget problem. Claiming concern about having to make job cuts in a tough economy or to provide luxury items to inmates, this prison reformer took the path of least resistance. Problem is, to Sheriff Judd, “luxury items” include jail-provided underwear. Seems the prison uniform includes the proviso of “going commando” for the male inmates. Female guests face no such concern and are provided free undergarments and the reason for the different treatment is a tad unclear.

Judd’s new policy is right in line with other creative jail reforms he’s instituted, like the necessity or removing basketball goals during Christmas time so the inmates have more time to do push ups and sit ups. Judd also instituted a two dollar a day “subsistence fee” to offset the cost of providing the food the inmates receive again to “honor” the hard-working men and women of Polk County — not those slackers mind you.

Seems taking away a citizen’s freedom isn’t enough for one Florida sheriff, as those under his care are entitled to neither support nor dignity. Should make for an interesting 14th and 8th Amendment case for the local federal district court.

This isn’t done to just convicted criminal, even those awaiting trial are subject to Judd’s Devils Island imprisonment.

dduck, I hope my comments didn’t sound personal… They weren’t meant to be and that’s also for the record. :)

As an Arizonan I believe that “Sheriff Joe” is an embarrassment not only to Maricopa county and the State of Arizona but to the United States of America as well.

There are a lot of good people who live here, both left and right. (tidbits is a great example ‘reasonable right’)

Arpaio’s M.O. has always been to rabble rouse now and apologize only when absolutely necessary… This time he was forced.

He’s tied to the most extreme radical right fringe groups in our state. They seem to feed off of each others ‘energy’ [sic] and this needs to be brought to Arizonans (& the Maricopa electorate) on a regular basis.

Not at all, I just didn’t want to give the wrong impression.

Arizona … when I was there, 1995-1996 (God warning everyone not to re-elect Clinton? When I was in Seattle, on Inauguration Day 1993 we had a serious wind storm, with fatalities), we had a serious storm with 110 miles per hour winds. How many others have seen (viewed in a safe way; sorry, Steve K., but I survived easily) a flag pole bent a full 90 degrees? Beginning the next day the news was about the overwhelmed insurance agents and adjusters.

From what I read, the Sheriff is simply responding to a crazy request from the people he represents. Which he has to do, its his job. His comment was levelheaded, especially considering the absurdity of the request.
