What does it matter as long as your saying something that to people who hear it can discredit and demonize someone who is creating problems for your “sports (politics) team.” Right, Senator Hatch?
But then Senator Hatch, when called on it did clarify and issue a correction. It was a mix-up (and after all, the two names DO SOUND THE SAME..)
TMV thanks Americablog for the tip.
It is truly sad that we live in an age where politicians can pretty much make up the facts as they go along, carelessly ruining the good reputations of others, and rarely be held accountable. Yes, Hatch is innately a politician, but he is also a leader whose words are held with more regard than an average person. In that respect, he should have been more responsible in his remarks about Lam. His initial comments will have much more of an impact than his barely noticeable retraction. Is that the way he intended it?
What do you expect? The man is a republican.
WA- I am not a Republican, but I don’t lump them all in the same boat either- the party as a whole has moved in a direction that I don’t think benefits the majority of Americans., but that doesn’t mean that I will condemn all of them. I don’t like it when the far right condemns everything the Democrats do, so why should I follow their bad example?
