Shot Clock
A lot of people think the administration has no clear policy vision for Iraq and the Middle East more generally. That’s not true. They have a very clear vision — run out the clock. That’s the common thread across a number of fronts right now. They are simply playing for time in order to dump everything in the laps of their successor.
Foreign policy is obviously the big one here, but detainee treatment is another huge example–the Bush administration is trying to tie up the proceedings as long as possible, so all the substantive decisions will eventually have to be made by his successor.
This is a definite read-it-all post.

Exactly. Perfectly written and referenced. The very smoking gun of treason that has been before our noses all along. Soldiers are dieing for republican politics, not in defense of America as George W Bush tells you. Cut off the funding for the Iraqi war and if Bush wants the troops to die in the field then let it be on his head. This jackass president needs to start obeying congress as the Constitution states, not as the republican party interprets.
Perhaps you should read the Constitution before you open your mouth. The President does not “obey” Congress and vice-versa. Congress could end this war in a matter of months if it chose to do so.
It is choosing to do so.
Entropy- Congress is the people. The president obeys the people. Bush must obey congress or impeachment proceedings will ensue.
Can the president impeach congress? NO, therefore he must obey. He will try to hold out but in the end he will OBEY!
