This is, on several levels, the most immediate and pressing damage the Bush Administration has wrought on this nation, in my opinion. We spent 25 years, billions in national treasure, and winning the Cold War along the way, to rebuild our armed forces after Viet Nam. We went from the DoD being one of the least trusted of government agencies to the US Armed Forces being the most trusted government institution. And for damn good reason. They earned it.

To see how these purple Band-Aide waving asses have wasted those years of treasure - blood, money and trust - to the point that our military is now essentially unable to actually protect the United States from the very real external threats we face, has earned them this American's eternal enmity.

grognard-I'm not so worried about al quieda getting Pakistan's nuclear weapons. I believe a "break-up" of Pakistan would work in our favor because the Paki government would be far more likely to allow the U.S. military into the rebel area to destroy al quieda.

The Army is broken. Most don't see the signs, but they are there. It will take a long time to rebuild. Read more here.

Just wait, Pakistan is showing signs of a breakup as Taliban and allied tribal groups begin to gain influence past Waziristan province. Who do we throw in if the regime looks like is about to collapse and the nuclear arsenal is close to being in the hands of Al Qeada?

It is quite amazing though, how our military keeps continuing on though they obviously know the "mission" is hopeless. It is as if they understand the hopelessness of the Bush policies but realize that all we have left is their loyalty. Its a shame that the republicans would use them up like so many cleaning rags with their self edifying "forever war" policy. I heard one of them say the other day “well we can always fall back on the draft, even the Democrats want it. Neocons make me sick. Thats why I am Partisan.
