Ahmadinejad Pardons The 15 Sailors & Marines…

During a press conference President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held in Tehran this morning, he announced that even though Iran has the legal right to try the hostages, he has decided to pardon them in honor of the birthday of the prophet….

Just wait for Nasrallah to publicly congratulate Ahmadinnerjacket on his “great victory” and “blessed generosity and mercy,” etc., ad nauseum. Iran has demonstrated it can kidnap Western forces and because of Western attitudes, control the subsequent events more than the West.

Yes , I agree it was well played . But that was only made possible by the current attitude of a country which is willing to give up its values for short term peace. Witness the latest move in Britain to drop teaching of the holocaust and the crusades for fear of upsetting Muslims.

Joe is dead-on. The Iranians, and Ahmadinejad, played this better than most would have ever expected.

Humiliate the British…stir dissension in their ranks (see the majority of Brits on the BBC who favoured the Iranian perspective over the British)…then be magnanimous.

Brilliantly played. Unfortunately, this means that a lot of folks at MoD are off the hook, and there won’t be a housecleaning. The incompetence of the British Navy in this event has been incredible.

The Iranians replicated their hostage-taking of a few years back. And like Good Ol’ Charlie Brown, the Royal Navy walked into it again.

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

But, Pyst is right, you have to give the devil his due. Well played indeed.

KR – Iran was going through a radical change and disorder, besides the radical Iranians in 1979 hated Carter because of Camp David and wouldn’t negotiate with him..
