A great post at the Daily Dish from a couple of days ago: Andrew Sullivan fisks David Brooks (h/t Pete Abel).
Let me take the time to congratulate my good friend Libby Spencer with her new gig. From now on, Libby is an official partner at the NewsHog blog.
Justin Gardner notices that the White House only minds it when politicians visit Syria if those politicians are Democrats.
Polimom on death with dignity. Should assisted suicide be legal? Polimom says yes.
The Gun Toting Liberal comments: “President Bush; the most “vacationedâ€? President in U.S. history; is putting the finishing touches on his nice little four-day vacation at his ranch in Texas, leaving an unfinished civil war in the Middle East behind while bashing Congress for… get this… taking a freaking vacation of their own.”
I am afraid that my good friend the GTL does not quite understand Bush’s complaint: the problem is not that Congress is taking a vacation, the problem is that a Congress ruled by the Democrats goes on vacation.
And lastly, a word of wisdom at Booker Rising.
I think Andrew Sullivan’s post, which Michael linked to above (courtesy of Pete), does a great job at dissecting David Brook’s post. I voiced some similar concerns when I criticized Brook’s embrace of “Big Government” conservatism about a week ago, but Andrew’s post is far more comprehensive. I seriously urge visitors at TMV to read it–particularly those who were initially eager to embrace Brook’s article.
Nicrivera: yes, it is a great post by Andrew. He truly does a marvelous job dissecting Brooks’ article. At my own place, I spent an entire post on it because I consider to be must read material for all those interested in conservatism.

Yes, this is total chutzpah on Bush’s part- after all he remained on vacation even after Katrina hit, and kept reading “My Little Goat” to Sarasota schoolchildren after being told about 9/11. Fearing for his own skin, he did not return to the capital to provide leadership to a stunned nation, but took off for the midwest. He did cut a vacation short to deal with the Terry Schiavo national crisis, though, lol.
A tad bit ironic, isn’t it kim.
