‘Legal Action Against Captured British Begins’
Iranian authorities have started legal proceedings against the British military personnel it has seized and said they would be punished if found guilty, Iran’s ambassador to Moscow said last night, reports The Sunday Morning Herald.
” ‘No kind of apology has been received from the British side and, as a result, the case has taken on a juridical form,’ Gholamreza Ansari told Vesti television in comments quoted on the channel’s internet site.
” ‘If their guilt is really demonstrated, naturally it will result in punishment. I want to underline that legal proceedings have already begun,’ Mr Ansari said.

Ah, yes. Iranian justice. I assume this is the same system that hangs young men for the crime of being gay.
This is just a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but I find it extremely annoying that every time a picture of the soldiers comes our.
1. The one and only woman is always at the center
2. Every new picture has her looking more and more like a muslim woman
First it was a normal picture, then a picture with a cloth over her hair, then the cloth turned black, now she’s totally covered. And they also use her to give the “admission” that they had invaded Irani waters (like you can trust the statement of a prisoner in that situation). But it’s the clothes that really get to me, how utterly humiliating to a soldier, a warrior, to be exhibited like chattel. How would the Muslim world react if we forced female prisoners to wear miniskirts, or male ones to dress up in a stereotypical gay fashion? A woman has to wear a veil in their countries out of “respect” but we can’t ask the women to take off the veil in OUR country out of the same “respect”? The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
And that’s my rant for now
Any word as to why the Iranians went back on their promise to release her last week? I shudder to think what will happen to this crew if it gets beyond the trial.
The British Marines were armed, why didn’t they fight? How did the Iranian captors cross into Iraqi waters without a challenge from the British frigate? Why where the British Marines not covered by the presence and overwhelming power of a British Naval frigate?
Why is it that western military forces appear to be completely incompetent?
because the channel is so narrow I read the time from shore to vessel took only 3 min. these 15 sailors were doing custom inspections on rubber boats away from any British ship. I also assume that they were a bit surprised and didn’t want to start blazing away when no shots were fired causing an incident that couldn’t be taken back.

I hope they are safely returned, and I hope the British and American forces leave the disputed waters where this incident took place.
I can only echo Lynx’s observation recap.
This is the problem with dealings between countires of different cultures. Our two visions of what is right and fair just never coincide. Our two different readings of history just never mesh.
It’s as if we live in separate, parallel universes.
They are grossly unjust and hypocritical. But they don’t see it that way, and I don’t know of any way to force someone to change his angle of vision. You can’t change a belief by military force or by argument, it seems.
What to do?
Don’t be greedy.
Don’t invade other countries.
Don’t keep soldiers in an alien country for more than a few weeks.
Don’t enter into controversial untested waters.
Stay put at home.
Take care of your own problems.
Enjoy yourself.
