This is still accusations but obviously you won’t find many people who will disagree that he should pay if he owes. A few things tho. His wife was the big wage earner in the family. She left him leaving him with significant bills. A large chunk of the “support” is shared expenses and until this guy was elected he was normally broke. His ex-wife made decisions and told him he had no choice but to pay. He didn’t get to help set the school clothes budget, he just got handed a bill and was told to pay up. He was not asked if he could afford summer camp, or given input to which camp to go. This is not someone who just wasn’t involved and ignored child support. His kids lived with him full custody for some of the time this covers and there was real financial hardship including having his home foreclosed on. While I’m sure responses will be split I think the idea that we can know whats going on in a situation this complicated because of a few words from battling lawyers seems silly.
Another Rep slimeball (oh, wait), nope that was Elliot Spitzer on Bill Maher last night. It was the first time I had to turn that show off, because of that showoff and a for sure slimeball.
This guy is another one, it seems, and too bad some screening couldn’t have kept him out of public office, especially at the federal level.
And Ellis, you make some good points.
Yes, he is. So are others in office from both parties. What is particularly galling in his particular case is the constant pushing of a fiscal/personal responsibility meme and the easy condemnation of others by someone who doesn’t even come close to practicing it.
Would this be the same conversation if the sex were reversed? He was a “work” at home Dad when his wife filed for Divorce. She was the main breadwinner of the family. He had known financial issues including having his home repossessed. He reportedly only made 22 grand in 2009. A large part of the total is for expenses and interest not support.
Just another example of Republican Hypocrisy.
I gotta agree — a slimeball.
Thank goodness the untarnished, pure-as-the-driven-snow Democrats have none of these types.
*snort*

“Unfunded mandates” from courts aren’t limited to child support orders as in this example.
