The remainder of the VA story is — the VA since 2003 hasn’t been enrolling new Priority Category 8 veterans, those who fail the agency’s means test.

The VA has played games with several veterans, not enrolling them so they would get VA benefits.

Specifically, the VA is not enrolling any new priority 8 veterans, who are have income and net worth above the “Geographic Means Test Threshold” (i.e., they fail a means test).

Q: What happens if a veteran loses his/her enrollment status through no fault of his/her own (e.g. such as an enrollment decision that would further restrict access to certain Priority Groups)?

A: The veteran would be able to join a Medicare plan without penalty if he/she signs up within 62 days of loss of such enrollment status.

Q: What happens if a veteran is disenrolled and no longer has access to the VA medical benefits package, which includes prescription drugs?
