Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Constitution?

The Bush administration believes the continued operation of Gitmo hurts us in the war on terror. But they won’t move it to the US, because then detainees might have rights. Ergo, denial of rights > winning war on terror?

Betrayal of values or how far one is willing to go to “the dark side, if you will”, is a sign of commitment, dedication, and loyalty to Bush and the Bushies. The willingness to subvert America’s core values to try to “protect America” is a trait that Bush types find laudable.

Of course it’s sick. The inability to distinguish the baby from the bathwater is a moral disease.

Maybe the larger fear is that these enemy combatants will gain access to the media to discuss how they were “not tortured” at Gitmo. Might get a little dicey for the AG who wrote the torture memo, and who is already in a little hot water, lol.

bTW, I read another account in WaPo about how military attorneys that defend accused terrorists do so knowing that their career will suffer as a result. In agreeing to defend these men, they are giving up promotions.
