Another Guilty Plea From a Bush Loyalist

griles.jpg

More here. And for those of you counting, this brings to a nice round 30 the number of Bush administration officials who have been convicted, pleaded guilty, been indicted, resigned due to an investigation or had their nominations withdrawn because of scandals.

Every administration has its bad apples, but this one seems especially infected with them, despite wrapping everything they do in patriotism, Christianity and “Compassionate Conservatism”. They’re a fine group of thieves and scoundrels!

  2. stevesh says:

The list is underwhelming. Ain’t no Chicago.

  3. kritter says:

That’s true there are quite a few more names that should be on there, and would be if not for executive privilege!

  4. PatHMV says:

But damn that political Bush Justice Department, refusing to prosecute Republicans…

  5. kritter says:

PatHMV- Except, you do know that since 2001, federal corruption cases against Democrats have been prosecuted 5 times as often as Republican corruption cases. Guess that’s because those Democrats are really the ones who have the “Culture of Corruption”, lol!

Debunked – Fisked – Gutted – Flayed – Exposed (as a Kos Bootstrap) here:

Mark Twain: “Malice and malignity faded out of me–or maybe I drove them out of me, knowing that a malignant book would hurt nobody but the fool who wrote it.”

  7. PatHMV says:

kritter… even beyond my debunking which Stevesh thoughtfully links to, even the authors of that atrocious study say that prosecutions of state and federal officials have been pretty evenly divided between the parties. Their assertion on that point, of course, is just as meaningless as their assertion on the others, because their data collection was terribly flawed, but if we’re tossing out meaningless statistics, that ought to be included among them.

In their study, as you’ll see from the linked post and my earlier posts which it links to, the only area where the professors (who were working far outside their academic field) found what they claim was a bias was in “investigations” of local elected officials… mayors, city council members, that level of government. But they didn’t do a random sample, and they didn’t count all the cases, and they didn’t even define what they meant by “investigation.” And they included only investigations of elected officials, not investigations of local party officials, contractors paying the bribes, etc. In just a couple of hours, I found about 10 Republicans who they had omitted from their count, and I have no doubt at all that I would have found more and more were I to go look.

Steve and Pat-Um, thanks – more bunk from a winger site! Do you have a different source that is more centrist? I couldn’t help but notice this is like “Crooks and Liars” for the Coulter crowd, lol!

  9. kritter says:

BTW, expect the list to grow by one after Sampson testifies next week. The e-mail evidence shows that Gonzo lied about his involvement with the firings, just as he lied about WH involvement. How could Bush pick such a slimeball for AG?

  10. PatHMV says:

Stubborn Facts is not a “winger” site, kritter, thank you very much. If you’d care to try to refute my observations, by all means stop over there and do so. It’s so easy to dismiss something as mere partisan hackery… saves you the trouble of actually making arguments. Were I just making “winger” observations, I would have stopped after pointing out that the professor’s study, on which you rely without even citing it, was “published” on EPluribusUnum.org, a Kos spin-off which is not actually an academic journal and does not provide peer-review. What, exactly, do you think was Coulter-like about my posts? Kindly be specific… or do you prefer to just name-call?

  11. Oddly enough I couldn’t bring myself to look more than once at Stubborn Facts because it is in fact a “winger” site. One doesn’t have to be Coulter-like to be a winger, just someone whose idea of stubborn facts somehow always seems to justify any Republican action and condemn anything the blogger views as liberal.

Pat- It is very easy to dismiss something as partisan hackery —when it is partisan hackery:)
