The recent demonstrations against the war drew huge crowds — crowds of anti-war demonstrators and support-the-troops demonstrators. And then there were also those that favored one side, but went to another side’s demonstration to see what it was like. Smash was one of them. He offers Part II HERE.
I hope Part III will follow. So far, one is left with the impression that the crowds consisted of only the ‘crazy’ radical groups and the ‘patriotic’ pro war people.
I’d like to read about the sane and patriotic anti-war crowd.
I was there marching to the Pentagon (parking lot). What I remember about the pro-war crowd was that they were flicking off all of the antiwar protestors as they passed the Lincoln Memorial, and they held up signs like “Peace Sucks.” Very clever and enlightened people.
“crowds of anti-war demonstrators and support-the-troops demonstrators. ”
Hmmm I didn’t realize to be anti-war was to be anti-troops. But I’m sure thats how Smash sees it always, so move along nothing to see here but the pro-war faction flipping off thte other side.
