The Persistent Sea Gull

It has been storming here, in the north of the Netherlands, all day long. It doesn’t rain, nor is it extremely cold, it’s just… storming. Despite this, what we humans call, ‘bad’ weather, I had to take the dog, a chubby black labrador retriever, out for a walk.

During the walk – the dog nervous, at times almost flying – I saw a sea gull trying to fly over the road. It wanted to go from one pasture to another. The problem: it had to fly head first into the wind.

   I hope the discussionn doesn’t involve speculations about whether the seagull was a Rep or a Dem.

   Seagulls are indeed persistent–although the ones we see here in the Midwest are usually trying to get at a pile of refuse. Odd that they should come so far inland for garbage, but as I said…persistent.

   Lets see:
   - (s)he didn’t ask another animal to bring him to the other side (in other words: do the work for him) so not a Dem
   - (s)he didn’t pull out a gun and tell another animal to bring him to the other side… so not a Rep

   I guess this sea gull was an Independent.

   By the way, MVG,

   This could be a great party game story. You know, the kind that begin with a dilemma (too many people on a life boat, etc.) and ask participants to provide a solution.

   In this case, what’s wanted is not a solution but an explanation.
   It elicits participation, the key to any good party.

   MVG-
   I just had a horrible thought. What if our sea gull president was corrupted by someone throwing bread crumbs in one pasture and not the other?
