Whatever happened to the right's stand against moral relativism? They railed against Clinton's low standards in office for 8 years. George W Bush ran against it in 2000, promising to return standards of decency and integrity to the White House. Now at every turn we hear the same old excuse- "But Clinton did it!" Come on Republicans---- Prove that you're still the party of Lincoln and the party that touts personal responsibility over weak excuses! Take some responsibility for what is happening now without blaming the Democrats.

Will Gonzales turn into Frankie Five Angels? (Gold star for the first person to get the reference).

Also, message to the GOP:

Even if the situations were analagous (whch they're not, but even if they were). Just because Clinton did it doesn't make it right.

Gonzales has been the Administration's legal firewall - if/when he goes, it's gonna get a whole lot tougher to be a "senior Administration official."

"Whatever else Bill Clinton is or was or someday may become, he will forever remain the favorite scapegoat for Republicans in trouble. When they’re caught, they always point at him — just as they are doing now in the midst of the scandal over the political dismissal of eight U.S. attorneys "

Carter is forever the GOP's scapegoat for incompetence, and they use Clinton for any scandal that they are caught up in. The problem for them is that Bush is worse politically than the two of them combined, lol. The next administration can perform at a mediocre level, and look superb by comparison. If the Dems win- maybe everything that goes wrong can be blamed ad nauseum on Bush.

As the writer points out, most if not all presidents replace the attys at the start of their first term- the only problem with what Clinton did, was that he had Reno replace them before he had other candidates ready to take over, which meant some of their investigations suffered.
