Imo, Bush has committed many impeachable offenses. But the chance of it actually happening is about zero. One reason is that the Democrats would then have to deal with Cheney who is even more of a hardliner than W. Another would be the political fallout for the Dems. They would be accused of removing Bush for crass political gain while the country was at war-meaning they could not possibly be patriots. It would be spun that Bush had finally come up with a plan that gave us a good shot at success, but the Democrats couldn’t stand to see that happen, so they took him down on a technicality. Finally, it would then be up to them to get us out of Iraq without a genocidal free-for-all happening over there.

Clinton’s poll numbers actually went up after his impeachment, while the GOP lost seats in the next election. So, politically it is better for the Democrats to leave him in place, unless there is a groundswell of bipartisan support, as there was in Watergate.

Might this finally be enough to take BushCo down? Afterall the other things that did actually warrant being looked into this obvious glaring overstep of law (if many of the others weren’t good enough) could get someone impeached?
