Bachmann Shows, Asserts No Fear – of Media or Sarah Palin

In the clip below from this morning’s TODAY show, U.S. Representative from Minnesota and Republican primary candidate for president, Michele Bachmann, shows how to handle being asked if she fears being “palinized” (in the video at about the four minute mark).

In my opinion, as someone who has run for office, anyone who “fears being palinized” should not be running for office in the first place and Amy Kremer, Co-Chair of the Tea Party Express, should stop using the media as an excuse for, ironically, media attention, onslaught and attacks.

What should she do? Critique it, point it out, call it out (like I did with Chris Wallace asking Bachmann is she’s a flake). Counsel your candidates on how to respond (first step: watch Bachmann with Wallace). But just stop using it to excuse anything and everything.

No excuses and stay on message – that seems to be Bachmann’s mindset and that’s very wise for a candidate. Beginning, middle, end. Period.

I think there would be much irony in the first woman president being a republican, but I would also expect that irony to be lost on republicans themselves. In any case, Bachmann has a l-o-n-g way to go and all issues of ideology aside (and they are considerable) she seems pretty fearless thus far. As for the “flake” comment, Wallace definitely lost that round.
