It’s not really a matter of coattails; it’s that Guiliani has the same sort of appeal that Schwartzenegger does. Well, not exactly, but he has a celebrity image of sorts and he’s very moderate on social issues, so he’ll appeal to the same sort of voters who put Ahnold in office. I think Rudy actually has a better chance of carrying CA then he does NY (particularly in a matchup against Hillary of course).

Like I said, his coattails didn’t help Repugs in state or local elections. Arnold isn’t a hardcore Republican, kinda like Romney running against Teddy Kennedy.

Rudi, you might be right, but I do think he has a better chance than the other candidates on the Republican side as far as that state goes. Are you sure Arnold canâ€™t help? I would have thought he has some influence in a California vote.

Grog – The claim of carrying California is a dream, he may not even be able to carry his own state. Even Arnold can’t help him, his coattails don’t exist.

One of the Sunday talks shows pointed out that if Giuliani can show Republicans that he can deliver California, a state less conservative than most but critical to winning an over all election, then he stature in the Republican party will soar.
