Bernanke: ‘Not in China’s interest’ to dump US debt

WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (Reuters) – Foreign central banks are neither expected to nor would it be in their interests to dump U.S. Treasuries on global debt markets, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke said on Wednesday.

“It’s not in the interests of China or Japan to dump Treasuries,” Bernanke told the U.S. House Budget Committee. “I have no expectation that this is going to happen.”

Bernanke added that he did not consider this hypothetical scenario to be a major threat to the U.S. economy or the U.S. financial system.

I’m surprised the Chinese didn’t dump some treasuries in yesterday’s worldwide financial drop.

A heads up, the RSS streams seem to be acting funny. I’m missing the latest topics (after train wreck) and the individual links all send me to the homepage rather than the right story.

TMVers, pls run a story on the moronic behaviour of the US MSM. Their sucking up to the WH really goes to far now. Here’s the latest example:

Report raise questions over White House requirement not to ID officials
An Associated Report today outed Vice President Cheney as the ‘mystery official’ who briefed reporters on Cheney’s trip to Pakistan and Afghanistan. The report went on to question the reasoning behind concealing Cheney’s identity.

Cheney spreads his propaganda about his own trip to the press, and is still allowed to stay anonymous? Can so called ‘journalists’ sink much deeper?
    :-|

  7. This one’s even worse than Miller agreeing to refer to Libby as a former House aide instead of someone in the White House. No reporter who goes along with requests like this should be allowed to continue in the profession.
