My impression is he wants this soooo bad, nothing else matters. I still think he's a good man. But I've seen ambition twist good men into knots. It changes them, blinds them. I believe he apologozied to Cheney and Cheney busted him in public with it. Which just shows what a terrible waste of time it was to apologize to that jerk in the first place. The smallest line of this story completes the picture. McCain accepting the Gov's endorsement before its been offered. Can't get more desperate than that. McCain and I were born the same year. He's only a couple months older than me... I realized long time ago I were't going to be President...i was upset. but I got over it (smile) Seriously, Once you reach 70 there certain dreams and plans you might have had, just aren't going to happen for you. accept it and move on. He could make a helluva contribution to the national debate, but only if he puts his ambition and ego aside. Mccain’s ambition has got the better of him.
