The best idea for speeding up loading of the site would be to introduce a ‘read more’ option to avoid transmitting all those ridiculously long stories every single time, even when you already have read them…
Hmm, I guess I already said that before, and Joe or Mike said something like ‘not possible with WordPress’. Well, regarding everything that’s not possible with WordPress, maybe WordPress is the real problem?
:-/
P.S.: I just noticed another problem here, for the umpteenth time: Why tf isn’t it possible to add a ‘login’ option in this comment section? Yeah, I know, complain at WordPress…but that answer is nonsense. You chose that system, and it’s very inconvenient for the readers to use. Did someone force you to make that choice? If not, don’t you bear some responsibility for all the inconveniences?
Btw, I once ‘complained’ at WordPress (ok, I diplomatically tried to make it sound like a proposal for an improvement). This led exactly nowhere. Those guys there aren’t interested in reader’s experiences, they only listen to bloggers. That’s as if a company building busses only cares for the opinion of the drivers, and doesn’t spend a thought on the passengers. And imho this is the reason behind everything that’s wrong with WordPress.
In search of excellence? Don’t try to find it in the work of those ignorants.
Yeah, I know, it’s free. And I’m generally a big admirer of the FSF and the like. But ‘free’ isn’t necessarily a synonym for ‘great’. Check Sourceforge, it’s full of shipwrecks of free software projects that once started as great ideas.
“Read More…” is definitely in the works. Many of the experiences (slowness, etc) comes from the migration from Powerblogs’ proprietary system (Powerblogs is a whole other issue that your better off talking to Joe about). As TMV undergoes a future re-design, things will get much better.
Wow, thx for personally weighing in!
Sry for my rants, WordPress simply p***ed me off recently, but I know that doesn’t mean other systems are necessarily better.

Good luck for the finetuning!
Uh, just one other point: Can we get the ‘preview’ button back sometime in the future, pls?
